gnuine sprang from the hand of Pep Gubau who had been working for an American company with Internet issues. We started developing web projects to third, through Lavinia and using free software, and we became one of pioneers companies in using this work ethic.

With nearly 20 years experience, a trajectory of many projects and the will of being always at vanguard of technological terms and free programming, we have become a benchmark in the sector.

2003
We started working directly for the client, and Carles and Ramon joined the project as partners. At that time we opened the first office and it wasn't in a garage... but almost! Located at Alemanya Street in Mataró, gnuine was composed of five people.

We use Ubiquo as content manager for the first time. The first thing we did was create a development framework. We have rewritten it with technology changes and nowadays it's in constant evolution.

At the end of that year arrived our first major project: the development of Vilaweb's site as we know it now. We devoted ourselves the 100% to this project, working after office hours and spending personal time.

After testing with Python and Ruby, we implanted Ruby on Rails framework to our projects. Following our ethic of being at vanguard in technology issues, we made a change to a more advanced language. So much is that, on february we took part at Oregon Ruby's conference as developer company of this technology in Spain.

We started the year winning the 2 lots tendered by XAL (Local Audiovisual Network), valued in € 680,000, with an innovative and technologically advanced proposal, among 14 bidder companies.

Following our ethics of being always at the epicentre technology of information, in September we moved to our actual official headquarters in Barcelona: the office of Viñas factory on Pamplona Street.

On 22th November we introduced "Jornada virtual", a web application for ACB (Spanish Basketball League) which shows statistic data in real time of ongoing games.

On 9th May we introduced the new interactive for La Vanguardia.es, for the upcoming council elections. The interactive allows to check real-time results, as well as to view historical data throughout the state.

In September we internationalized gnuine, opening the door to new markets and we moved to the epicenter of information technologies, with a second office. This way gnuine Inc. society came out, with headquarters in California.

On 3rd November we released the new FC Barcelona website. The club chose Ubiquo to develop the new website platform which improves media uses and integration with social network and, above all, it pledges to ongoing games management.

UbiquoSports arose, the evolution of our content manager, oriented to the management of web application contents for sports clubs.
